Networking is an amazing thing. I am always impressed with how every once in awhile a connection gets made that delivers real value to what you are trying to accomplish. This week, I had two connections that did just that for me, and I want to share them with you as my attempt to pay it forward.
The first is Mary W., founder of Interactive Mary. Mary’s mission is to help economic development organizations better understand how to harness social media to achieve their objectives. My introduction to Mary was through reading her June 23rd blog post as I was researching ways to increase awareness of the Strengthening Brand America Project. I learned at least three things I could start doing immediately to better achieve my objective. I was so pleased with the value of the information that I dropped Mary a thank you note. Mary responded and connected me with a resource who turned out to also be an amazing help. Mary is what I would call “Good People”, and I want to publicly thank Mary for her counsel.
The second person is Hunter Hilburn CeCD, President of EDSuite. EDSuite is a website development firm with a mission of empowering communities online. EDSuites also created the EDNAMES.com directory to help professionals get in contact with each other and find helpful resources. I needed guidance on the best way to list the Strengthening Brand America Project and sent Hunter an email question. Hunter literally responded within minutes, he had looked at the Strengthening Brand America Project, and gave me outstanding guidance and support.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I have no business relationship with either Mary or Hunter. I simply wanted to share my recent experience with two “Good People” who went above and beyond in providing me insight and service to help make the Strengthening Brand America project a success. Great service needs to be recognized.
I also want to thank everybody who has helped create, maintain and given the gift of their expertise to the Strengthening Brand America Project over the last two years. I am always amazed and grateful for the support whether it is in providing expertise for the Expert Interview section (34 interviews to date), sharing their perspective for the new Voice of Your Customer (5 site selection consultants have provided feedback to date), or have shared the website with friends and colleagues through tweets and forwarding the URL. It is through their generosity the Strengthening Brand America site gets visits from all 50 states and 124 countries.
