International Economic Development Council

International Economic Development CouncilThe International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping economic developers do their job more effectively and raising the profile of the profession. When we succeed, our members create more high-quality jobs, develop more vibrant communities, and generally improve the quality of life in their regions.

Professional Associations are an excellent way of ensuring you are aware of best practices to help you be an even more effective economic development professional. In addition, they provide an opportunity to build a personal network that can be invaluable to your professional development.

The IEDC is an organization I recommend you consider becoming a member of. It provides you access to excellent case studies and articles to help you in your strategic and tactical planning. In addition to a professional certification program, the IEDC also offers distance learning opportunities through online seminars that cover “hot” topics of concern within the economic development community. The publications center also has a number of reference books and reports available to help enhance your understanding of issues and effective economic development practices.

I am an active member of the IEDC. I encourage you to consider membership as well, and I look forward to potentially meeting you at a future IEDC annual conference.
